Catch + Release

i.M.A.D.E collaborated with faculty research fellows Jason Johnson and William Marquez on a design/fabrication/research project entitled “Catch + Release”. The project proposed a series of differentiated panels that function as solar collectors, shading devices and ambient lighting. These panels made up part of an entry pavilion for the University Museum at Southern Illinois University, as part of the Aethesia exhibit in September. In addition to the installation at SIU, Johnson and Marquez created a series of panels for inclusion in the “scriptedbypurpose” exhibit held at the FUEL collection Gallery in Philadelphia. This exhibit focused on the dual topics of open source networks and scripted/parametric design and fabrication. Along with Johnson’s and Marquez’s project, this exhibit included the work of more than 15 international collaborations.
